“Fishing within the Misty Fjord national monument was amazing.  Our guide knocked himself out to see that we caught lots of fish.  My wife is still bragging about her 77, 70 and 64 pound halibuts.  She tells anyone who will listen (and even some who won’t about it).  This was truly a last frontier type adventure.  The remoteness was very exhilarating.  We didn’t feel as though we were in a tourist setting.  We didn’t even see another fishing boat until our third day on the water.  The hospitality at Hidden inlet lodge was exceptional.  The cabins were clean, comfortable and inviting.  The Sommers were welcoming, accommodating and gracious.  We knew we were their number one priority.  Our vacation couldn’t be nicer!”

Team AZOD Returns From Hidden Inlet, Alaska

Team AZOD’s Kip Pollay recently returned from a weeks stay in Alaska, where he participated in a filming of Sportsmen’s Heritage TV.  His journey included stops in Seattle, and Ketchikan, before jumping on board a yacht for a six-hour trek up the Inland Passage to the Hidden Inlet.  Hidden Inlet is one of the newest fishing destinations in Southeast Alaska and is owned and operated by a group which consists mainly of fellow Arizonan’s.  “People who come to the resort to fish will be taking a float-plane in and out but I jumped on board one the investors boats and soaked in the Alaskan wilderness as we made our way to camp”, says Pollay.  “The area is abundant with eagles, bear, mountain goats, whale, and more, and the scenery was spectacular.”  The resort is only one of two fishing camps in the Portland Passage, nestled in the Misty Fjords National Monument.  Kip spent eight days enjoying some great Alaskan Salmon fishing.  The group also caught various other species including Red Snapper, Halibut, Rock Cod, and more.  “The people at the resort really took great care of us off of the water as well,” adds Pollay.  “We ate steaks, shrimp, dungeonous crab, salmon, halibut, and cod.  The facilities were very nice as well.”  The crab and shrimp are abundant at the Inlet and were caught daily by the crew.  The show, which will air this winter, will feature Kip with the Sommers family from the Hidden Inlet.
